Souls Awakened

My time off was up. I had to go back to Guangzhou.

The day I left Beijing, Li took out a stack of money from a drawer and handed it to me, “Here is 3,000 Yuan. An Australian fellow practitioner had left it here before going back. He said that it was for financially difficult fellow practitioners.”

I guessed the Australian fellow practitioner had left the money for the Li household. But from the neat wrapping paper, I could tell the money had remained untouched.

“I don’t need it.”

“It costs a lot of money for you to travel between Guangzhou and Beijing.”

“You need the money much more than I do. Your life is so tough.”

“My life is not tough. Many fellow practitioners’ life is much tougher.”

The money lay back in the drawer.
