有好一陣子我玩墨玩彩,覺得很好玩,也很有意思,這是當時的作品之一。

像這種畫我其實畫得不少,只是很難得到友朋們的認同。他們總以為我們這種畫「離經叛道」,難予苟同,不加捧場,也不給掌聲,使我頗有「曲高和寡」的感覺。更有甚者,有一個伯伯看了我們這種畫時說:「這哪是國畫呀?國畫是不上色的;國畫是要題詩寫字的。如果不是書、畫、印三位一體,就不是國畫了。」聽到這種固陋的,似懂非懂,自以為是的人大談「畫經」,我們只有搖頭的份。

正因為如此,這第六冊畫集,咱們就少放幾張,等出版第七集時再多拿一些以就教於方家吧。@

Cherry Blossom Season

I was playing around with ink and colors in a period of time, and I thought it was pretty enjoyable, pretty interesting. This is one of the paintings that I made at that time.

Although I actually made quite a few of these paintings, I didn’t get much positive feedback from my friends. They inevitably felt that this kind of painting was too unorthodox and hard to agree with, so they didn’t give much support. I was left feeling that the style was too highbrow to find much of an audience. And worse, an elderly saw a painting like this and said, “You call this a traditional Chinese painting!? A traditional Chinese painting doesn’t have all these colors. A traditional Chinese painting should have a poem or some calligraphy. It’s not a traditional Chinese painting if it doesn’t combine painting, calligraphy, and seal impressions.” I could only shake my head after hearing such a pig-headed, ignorant, self-righteous explanation of “orthodox painting.”

That’s why I put a several fewer paintings into my sixth painting collection. When the seventh collection is published, I’ll take some more and ask for advice from an expert.@
