……伊朗人把珈音譽為「蘇菲聖人」，主要依據是珈音在哲學著作中把蘇菲視為求知的最佳途徑。對於這一「封號」，我們必須區分兩種不同意義的蘇菲。「蘇菲」（Sufi）一詞，或說源自阿拉伯文的「純淨」一詞，或說源自「羊毛」一詞，指早期苦修僧所穿的質樸的羊毛衫。兩種蘇菲，依照的學者沙阿（Idries Shah）的詮釋，一是古老的難以溯源的「靈修的同氣相求」（spiritual freemasonry），它蘊涵世界各種信仰的基本要素，不是穆斯林的獨佔品; 二是後來被穆斯林接納為伊斯蘭分支的蘇菲教派。在沙阿看來，珈音屬於第一種超越時代的「蘇菲的喉舌」。

幾多織錦羊毛屑？

清氣長留煙火滅。

Before the phantom of False morning died,
Methought a Voice within the Tavern cried,
“When all the Temple is prepared within,
“Why nods the drowsy Worshiper outside?”
剛見天邊羊肚白，
酒家驚叫門前客：
佳餚美酒早安排，朝聖族，
露中宿，快快醒來先小酌！
註釋：詩中描寫的假黎明（false morning）現象，指「黃道光」（zodiacal light），是與之相對的真黎明之前東方地平在線突現的灰白楔形光團，源自被行星際塵埃微粒反射的太陽光。費譯第一版譯為「黎明的左手」（Dawn’s Left Hand），波斯人稱假黎明為狼追羊的「狼羊白」或「羊肚白」，相當於中文所說的「魚肚白」。

To-day is but a breathing space, quaff wine!
Thou wilt not see again this life of thine;
So, as the world becomes the spoil of time,
Offer thyself to be the spoil of wine!
人生一口氣，有酒氣盈盈！
氣斷誰能接？春來草又青。
時間如虎豹，世界作羊羚。
身祭擇真道，三杯通酒星！

When false dawn streaks the east with cold, gray line,
Pour in your cups the pure blood of the vine;
The truth, they say, tastes bitter in the mouth,
This is a token that the “Truth ” is wine.
東方乍現「狼羊白」，正驅寒夜催行客，
欲飲血葡萄，請君備酒餚！
忠言含苦澀，假話多甜汁，
真理即真醇，初嚐微帶辛。

If thou are wise be not the slave of Greed,
Nor fallen its prey, a vain Ambition heed;
Nor be as earth』s dust driven by each wind,
But keen as fire, as running water freed.
餓狼獵食貪羊肉，
智者疏財抒義懷，
莫逐時風歸劣土，
清流淨火守心齋。

So great a brightness is the soul of wine
That even in the darkness it will shine,
And cocks will crow, mistaking for the dawn
The apparition of its light divine.
美酒清魂夜更香，
暗中閃耀映天蒼，
雄雞初唱常生誤，
誤把狼灰當聖光。
註釋：狼灰，指波斯人稱為「狼羊白」的假黎明。
IV. 115 A Man of Feeling（26）性情中人*
My heart contains a sea, whose hidden tides
With my emotions swiftly come and go:
A Sufi only needs one cup to make
His narrow empty flagon overflow.
我心浩瀚暗潮飛，
起落癡情湧向誰？
器小蘇菲杯盞淺，
葡萄一滴漲春醅。
註釋：詩題係英譯添加。波斯文原詩是向釃客致辭。下聯喻義是：酒量很小的蘇菲，只要你有一點點愛的回報，就是令我心醉神迷的春潮般的美酒。

牽牛戴月正春耕，
釃客慇勤添酒樽。
鮮草肥羊家犬樂，
荊扉何必羨天門。@
