以下是纽约地铁里三张提醒乘客注意安全的海报，很多动词、用语、句型都是日常生活中很常用的。

Stay alert on station platforms.

在车站月台上要保持警觉

‧Stand back from the edge of the platform

‧站的位置要离月台边远点

‧Wait near other riders

‧在与接近其他乘客的地方等侯（万一有状况时，好有人即时协助）

‧Let the train come to a full stop before stepping forward

‧等火车完全停止后再上车

Leaning on subway doors is dangerous.

倚靠在地铁门上是很危险的。

这里有的读者可能会有疑问，doors不是复数吗，怎么会用单数动词is呢？其实这一句的主词并不是doors，而是leaning on subway doors这个动作，所以是单数。

lean (sth) against/on sth 是一个动词词组，依靠的意思，用英文解释就是to sit or stand with part of your body touching something as a support. （坐或站时用你身体的部分碰触到某件东西作为支撑。）
