【大紀元9月22日訊】(休斯頓報導)休斯頓獨立學區9月19日宣佈，約有120所電力恢復的學校將在下週二開課。剩下的170多所學校將視情況而定。目前影響學校開課的主要原因是電力沒有恢復和屋頂被損壞的問題。休斯頓獨立學區希望開課的學校能把7天缺的課儘快補上。
所有120所學校校長應該在週一上班，而教職員工應該在週二開課正常工作。

The Carter Career Center, Eastwood Academy, Farias Early Childhood Center, Mistral Early Childhood Center Houston Math, Science & Technology Center, Harper Alternative, Ninfa Rodriguez Laurenzo, Ninth Grade College Prep and Smith Education Center are also opening Tuesday.

Katy和Spring Branch計劃週一開課， Cypress-Fairbanks和Tomball計劃週二開課，Spring計劃週三開課。
Clear Creek ISD將在9月29日開課，La Marque ISD將在10月1日開課。
Galveston ISD的學生可臨時到其他學區註冊上課。
據悉，自從颶風IKE後，來德州兒童醫院看急診的孩子增長了至少20%，受傷的情況包括折斷了胳膊、腿及頭骨受傷等。急診室的醫生建議學校應儘快恢復開課，以避免無所事事的孩子們因為爬樹而受傷。
