WONG: Due to pressure from the Chinese Communist Party, the European Satellite Company Eutelsat threatens to terminate New Tang Dynasty TV’s transmission to Asia on April 15th.
由于中共的压力，欧洲卫星公司威胁在四月十五日终止新唐人电视对亚洲的播送。

【讲解】“终止”一般记者会用terminate, end, bring to an end等动词。这个句子的结构是：介系词片语+主要子句+介系片语。头一个介系词片语表示原因，尾巴的二组介系词片语，to Asia表示位置，on April 15th.表示时间。

This issue has raised a lot of concern from many governments, human rights organizations, media groups, NTDTV viewers, and the general public.
这项问题已引起了许多政府、人权组织、媒体团体、新唐人电视观众及普罗大众的关切。问题可以用question, problem, matter，但issue这个字就是很正式的新闻用语，也可译作“议题”。

STORY:
In December of last year the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) met with Eutelsat and threatened to not do business with them for the 2008 Olympics in China if Eutelsat continued their contract with NTDTV.
在去年十二月，中共与欧卫公司会面，并且威胁欧卫如果继续与新唐人电视台续约的话，那么2008年在中国举办的奥运将不会与欧卫做生意。

In the past month, governments in Europe and the United States have risen to support NTDTV and ask Eutelsat to continue offering truthful reporting to China and Asia.
在过去一个月中，美国与欧洲许多政府已经站起来支持新唐人电视台，并且要求欧卫继续对中国与亚洲提供真相报导。

Sixty-five members of the European Parliament signed a letter addressed to Eutelsat’s CEO, asking him to “maintain our joint commitment to fundamental European values and agreements, so that this 'open satellite window' continues to grow wider.”
欧洲议会的65位成员签署了一封信件写给欧卫的总裁，要求他“维护我们共同对基本的欧洲价值与协议，以使这个“开放的卫星之窗”继续成长，更为宽广”。

【讲解】这一句中的addressed 可不要误会成动词喔，它是个分词片语addressed to Eutelsat’s CEO，用过去分词表示被动，这封信是被写给欧卫总裁。, asking him to 也是分词片语，表主动，意思是这封信要求他如何如何。这一句的主要动词是signed。所以这一句的结构是：主要子句+过去分词片语+现在分词片语。新闻英语中大量使用分词片语，所以要习惯看，容易搞混的是过去分词片语，很容易看成过去式，其实是过去分词，而且表示被动。以下也有很多句子都是这样的结构。（待续）@、
