海灘小屋

Dear Jennifer,

Sounds like you're getting some sun and surf in South Africa! I would have thought you would be seeing exotic animals like lions and tigers. It's surprising that you've been hanging out on a beach!

I'm about to head to a beach myself. I'll be leaving for Mumbai tonight, and I've heard there's a beach in the city. I don't know whether it's going to be as beautiful as you describe Camps Bay to be, but I'll definitely check it out and let you know!

Reading Passage

Most people don't think about taking a trip to South Africa, but this is an ideal vacation spot. The beaches here are some of the most stunning in the world, especially in the city of Cape Town. It's on the southern coast of Africa and derives its name from the fact that it's on a cape. The Atlantic coast of this cape has some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in the world, and you can see some of it right in the city of Cape Town.

很多人從沒想過去南非旅行，但這裡真的是個理想的旅遊地。這裡的海灘是世界上最令人驚豔的，尤其是開普敦的海灘。開普敦在非洲的南方海岸，因位在海角上而得其名。這個海角的大西洋海岸，有世界之最的美麗沿岸風光，而有些風景在開普敦城就看得到。

Being 15 minutes from the center of the city, Camps Bay is the most popular beach in Cape Town and arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The stunning rock formations3 of The Twelve Apostles of Table Mountain form a dramatic backdrop4 to this beach. The white sand and blue waters make it a picture-perfect5 beach. Warning must be heeded6, however, for there are no lifeguards7 and the surf8 and wind here is strong, making swimming dangerous at times. The water can also be quite chilly, as the water comes straight from Antarctica9. Though the water may not be relaxing, it's definitely exhilarating10! A little caution11 is all that is needed to have a wonderful day here.

坎普斯灣距離市中心15分鐘的車程，是開普敦最多人去的海灣，而且廣受討論，是世界上最美麗的海灘之一。令人驚豔的桌山十二門徒峰，其岩石組成是海灘上最引人注目的背景。白色沙灘和藍色海水，讓它成為如詩如畫般的美麗海灘。然而，一定要留意警告標誌，因為這裡沒有救生員，這裡的風浪很大，有時在這裡游泳很危險。這裡的海水也很冷，因為它直接來自南極大陸，雖然海水不能令人放鬆，但是卻能讓人振奮精神。只要謹慎一點，就可以在這裡享受一整天。

After taking a dip, make sure you have a drink at one of the many cafes that are on nearby Victoria Road where you can have a lovely view of the sun setting over the ocean. Keep in mind that because Camps Bay is so popular and close to the city, it can get very crowded on the weekends. But it's a great opportunity to watch the people of Cape Town enjoying their beach life.

泡過水之後，一定要到附近維多利亞街上的咖啡店喝杯咖啡，觀賞太陽落入海面的美景。要記得，因為坎普斯灣很多人去，而且離市區很近，週末時非常擁擠，但這也會是看到開普敦人如何享受海灘生活的絕佳機會。
